14.12.12 Story Time with 4 and 5 year olds / con 4 y 5 años

On Friday, 14th December, in their classroom, the 4 and 5 year olds read and enjoyed four stories: We're Going on a Bear Hunt, Walking Through the Jungle, Monkey and Me, and Dear Zoo. We're Going on a Bear Hunt required a bit more concentration, because it's a bit longer and has more text, so we read that first and it was great fun. There are a lot of wonderful noises in this story and its got superb rhythm. Walking Through the Jungle is a very simple book where you have to guess by the noise a little boy hears what animals is coming next. Then we read Monkey and Me, which they already know by heart and sing along with me. And lastly, we read Dear Zoo again, so they could help me lift the flaps and unveil what was behind each. All the children were very participative and it was a very fun session.

El viernes, 14 de diciembre, en el aula, los niños y niñas de 4 y 5 años curso leyeron y disfrutaron de cuatro cuentos: Vamos a cazar un oso, Walking Through the Jungle, Monkey and Me y Dear Zoo. Vamos a cazar un oso (en su versión en inglés) requería un poco más de concentración porque es más largo y tiene más texto, así que lo leímos primero y fue muy divertido. Contiene muchos ruidos graciosos y tiene un ritmo genial. Walking Through the Jungle es un libro de estructura muy sencilla donde un niño camina por la jungla y va oyendo ruidos. El lector tiene que adivinar qué animal está a punto de aparecer en la siguiente página por el ruido. Luego leímos Monkey and Me, que ya se saben casi de memoria y lo "cantan" conmigo. Por último, leímos de nuevo Dear Zoo, para que me ayudaran a levantar las solapas y descubrir lo que había detrás de cada una de ellas. Todos los niños y  niñas fueron muy participativos y fue una sesión muy divertida.

26.10.2012. Story Time with 4 and 5 year olds

On Friday 26th October, in the 4 year old classroom, the 4 and 5 year old classes at the school, read and enjoyed three stories: Monkey and Me, Dear Zoo and Owl Babies.  For Dear Zoo, all the children took turns to help lift the flaps. We had to read it a couple of times for everyone to have a chance to join in. But the absolute favourite was Monkey and Me. We also read it a second time and by then, most children were joinin in: Monkey and me, monkey and me, monkey and me, we went to see, we went to see some... PENGUINS! 

El viernes 26 de octubre, en la clase de 4 años, los niños y niñas de 4 y 5 años leyeron y disfrutaron de tres cuentos: Monkey and Me, Dear Zoo y Owl Babies. En Dear Zoo, todos se turnaron para levantar las solapas. Tuvimos que leerlo un par de veces para que todos tuvieran la oportunidad de participar. Pero el favorito indiscutible fue Monkey and Me. También lo leímos una segunda vez y para entonces ya la mayoría de los niños lo estaban recitando: Mi mono y yo, mi mono y yo, mi mono y yo fuimos al zoo, fuimos al zoo a veeeer.... ¡PINGUINOS! (pero en inglés, ¡claro!)
